The Tektone Company, LLC, is a small architectural drafting company that is looking for additional team members to fill out its custom home, remodel, and commercial positions.   We are especially looking for experienced team players, but yet people that can work independently with little supervision. People that will strive to develop a strong working relationship with our clients and will promote their interests. Everything we do is based on the premises that a well satisfied client leads to more clients and an increased level of income for all concerned.

We are looking for people that want to practice their vocation, not people that are only looking for a job. We can always find someone that is looking for a job. We are interested in finding someone that knows their craft, has pride in what they do, and the belief that their success follows accomplishment. How far one goes in the company, is directly related to the individuals drive. The company has no limits on what one can achieve or how far they can go.

Every craftsman is part of the management team from the day they start work. Everyone is challenged from the start. The new hire as well as the veteran are given task to accomplish often with little direction and little supervision. It is our philosophy the best way to truly learn and test ones metal is to work through adversity. This has the positive affect of firmly cementing the experience in ones mind. Mistakes made during a strong effort are not punished. Only a lackadaisical attitude and lack of true effort is looked upon with disdain by management and fellow employees. This is only because it is a poor reflection of the company and shows disrespect to our clients, of whom we are completely reliant. Poor client relations adversely affect everyone directly or indirectly involved.

1.   Good visualization skills is a requirement

2.   Strong knowledge of construction - actual construction is a real plus

3.   Design experience in custom homes and commercial project

4.   Good working knowledge of the building codes

5.   Good communication skills, both written and verbal

6.   Knowledge of word processing and data base programs

7.   An entrepreneur spirit is a definite plus.

Added skills but not necessary for consideration:

1.   Autolisp or visual basic programming experience

Owners Notes:

From the time the company was formed, we have strived to develop a family style atmosphere where everyone is treated as a valued partner in the business. We have a relaxed and informal work environment.   We try to create a balance between personal needs such as school and family and the requirements of the business. With adequate advance notice, the individuals work schedule can be adjusted to their needs and the requirements. Self improvement such as education and strong family bonds are at the top of the list of consideration for work schedules with all those that work at The Tektone Company.

 
     
   

Debt management philosophy:

As in ones personal life, our goal for the company is to be debt free and have sufficient moneys set aside so the company can withstand an economic down turn of at least six months without cut backs in personnel. To help our employees achieve their own financial freedom, we have a 401K program in place for all full time personnel. As the company grows, there will be other savings plans developed.

 
     
   

Health insurance:

This has been a long time goal of the company that will soon be realized. It now appears we will be able to offer a modest health care package with at least a 50% company contribution. The details are currently being worked out.

 
     
   

Financial Compensation:

Our current wage range is between $10/hr for entry level drafters (must know AutoCAD) to $25.00 for senior level project managers. With the increase work load that is anticipated, the upper level range is expected to be raised to, but not limited to, $28/hr plus project related and annual company bonuses. Project bonuses will be based on project profitability.   All those directly related to the project will receive a bonus commensurate with the projects income

 
     
   

Closing comment:

My father, who recently passed away at the age of 101, spent his working life in an environment where a company often hired several generations from the same family.   This may not be practical in today's world, but non-the-less, has great appeal to me. Adversarial relationships at work do not promote a good work ethic and is destructive to a goal oriented company. Independent, yet interdependent teams seem to be the most effective way to accomplish client oriented goals
